Do you have a good skin care routine?

December 16, 2021

So, what does it mean to have a good skin care routine? Where should you turn for advice? With an abundance of serums, cleansers, exfoliants, creams and more, it can be tough to find the right products and regimen that match your concerns and skin type. That’s why Elevate is here to help. Below are good essentials, that we constantly reinforce and teach at Elevate.

Step 1: Cleanser

First and foremost, you need to cleanse before bed and first thing in the morning make sure you are washing your skin with a gentle cleanser. Cleansers are necessary in removing all the dead skin, pollutants, oil, dirt, and the bacteria that are harming your skin. Based on years of education and experience, we recommend for you to avoid cleansers that have sulfates. For those that have sensitive skin, you will want to opt for a cleanser that is fragrance-free. Now that might seem simple but it is VERY important.

Step 2: Serums

If you have a dermatologist and they have prescribed any acne creams, you should apply them next. If you are not prescribed anything, you should apply a serum that is conducive to your individual problem area. Designed to nourish, protect, and hydrate your skin, a face serum is a great next step after cleansing and before moisturizing. The concept with a serum is that larger amounts of active molecules will potentially penetrate the skin’s surface for optimum effectiveness. Also, due to the higher concentration, it typically takes a shorter amount of time to see visible results.Because a serum is lighter and delivers active ingredients to the skin quickly, it goes on first, but you also need to seal the serum to maximize the benefits, which is why a moisturizer or face cream is the next step.

Step 3: Moisturizer

A common misconception is that moisturizing is only for dry skin. That is not true. Even when you using retinol and acne spot treatments, your skin can get increasingly dry and irritated. Moisturizers will add more hydration to your skin. For those with oily, acne prone skin there are also oil-free moisturizers that are amazing.

Step 4: Eye Cream

It is vital you apply an eye cream at least once a day. Applying eye cream will help maintain the health, thickness, and youth-full appearance of the skin on and around your eye area. It is vital that you apply an eye cream at least once a day.

Now that you are more familiar with the importance of skin care, it’s time to take action and protect your skin. The first step is to reach out to us at Elevate. Our students (who are monitored by licensed professionals) are well equipped to provide a range of services like chemical peels and facials to help improve your skin and educate you on what products to use. Don’t wait any longer for a good skin scare routine, let ESI Durham help build your plan today.
