Let’s meet Pelham one of our first group of graduates

One of the best things about my job are the journeys I get to intimately be involved in.  From the first phone call to the first tour to subsequent meetings to the signing of the enrollment agreement to first day to the first checkpoint to that last checkpoint at graduation and even beyond. The journeys I am witnessing are nothing short of epic and intoxicating.

Matt: Looking back, can you tell us what made you choose Elevate?

Pelham:I chose elevate because I wanted to fast track my career as a hair stylist. Best decision I ever made! I’ve been licensed 2.5 years, had my own chair for 1.5 yrs, promoted (leveled up) and raised prices 2x in 1 year and moved up a tax bracket! All during COVID.

Matt: What’s your favorite memory of your time in school?

Pelham: Graduation! I kid… sort of. My favorite memory is the bonds I created with my fellow classmates. I won’t lie, going to school and starting a new career is tough. And you may be in class with people you barely have anything in common with. What is important is embracing one another’s differences, sticking together as a team and being there to support each other on the hard days.

Matt: What advice would you give to any student looking to enroll

Pelham: If you are able, intern at a salon or spa a few hours a week while you are in school. It will get you through — not only will you experience  the real world side of your craft, you will supplement your education and be even more prepared to go out into your profession with confidence. 

Matt: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

Pelham: I will hopefully be hiring and training my first associate within the next year. Once I have cemented my clientele as an upper level stylist at Bella Trio my goals are to travel, teach, expand my clientele through social media to other cities and hopefully learn new crafts of the trade along the way. I have a huge interest in specialty color for extensions, wigs and other hair units. The sky is the limit in this career — think outside the box!
